AHURI (the Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute) is an expert, not-for-profit research management company with a public good mission to deliver high quality research that influences policy and practice development, improving the housing and urban environments of all Australians.

We manage research undertaken by our Australia-wide partnership of universities for the Commonwealth and all state and territory governments as well as for an extensive range of clients from the private, not-for-profit and other government sectors, both in Australia and internationally.

Understanding the complexities, subtleties and interactions within the fields of housing, homelessness and urban infrastructure, planning and finance underpins everything we do at AHURI. It’s why we are internationally regarded for our independence and expertise in researching and connecting academically-rigorous evidence to policy and practice development.

Recent AHURI research has covered a range of issues of practical interest to the planning community including digital disruption in planning systems, inclusionary planning in new and renewing communities, and how planning regulations impact housing supply.

All AHURI’s Government funded research is freely available on the AHURI website as well as a range of policy briefs, analyses and news related to housing and urban issues in Australia.

In addition, our in-house Professional services team can deliver a custom designed research services to support your organisation. Our work informs the policies and practices of governments and the housing and urban development industries by delivering high quality evidence that underpins decision making.
