The City of Gold Coast

The Gold Coast is a city inspired by lifestyle and driven by opportunity.

Australia’s sixth largest city, and one of its fastest growing, the Gold Coast is home to close to 600,000 people and welcomes more than 13 million visitors per year.

Our economy is valued at close to $34 billion, and employs 290,000 people across a range of industries including health and medical, tourism, education, film and construction.

The Gold Coast remains one of the most biodiverse cities in Australia with more than 585 animal and 1700 plant species set amongst 57 kilometres of coastline, 260 kilometres of navigable waterways and world heritage-listed parks.

Our vision is to build on our unique natural assets to create:
• the best place to live and visit;
• prosperity built on a strong and diverse economy; and,
• people that contribute to a strong community spirit.

The Gold Coast City Plan sets out a fresh and innovative approach to support our growth and shape the Gold Coast into a world class city. Guided by six city-shaping themes, it provides the strategic framework for how we will enhance our enviable lifestyle while ensuring we support development for future residents and businesses.
